Thanks Texas Monthly for supporting your favorite RiverWalk restaurants!
“Nowhere else on the River Walk can you be so well tended and so well fed. Bruce Auden’s kitchen, oft nominated for a James Beard award has for decades turned out remarkable dishes such as chicken-fried oysters and apple-smoked-salmon nachos. A mustardy rack of lamb was primus inter pares this time, but mahimahi, with a meaty, moist texture was close behind. …You can hardly go wrong here.”

Even at your favorite RiverWalk restaurants, everyone has a different idea of what Thanksgiving should be. While some people want a traditional celebration with turkey and dressing, others would rather take a more modern approach. …But you can’t please everybody, right? Actually, if we have anything to do with it, you can! Different flavor profiles is what a Biga Thanksgiving Brunch is all about.
Thanksgiving Brunch at Biga has been a San Antonio favorite for more than a decade. This year will be even better. The Biga chefs are working tirelessly to expand the buffet to impress even the fussiest members of your family.
Start your Thanksgiving feast with appetizers like spring rolls, ciabatta crisps with mushroom duxelle & truffle caviar, artisan cheeses, smoked salmon nachos, jumbo Gulf shrimp with mango habanero cocktail sauce and freshly shucked oysters on the half shell (just to name a few). Next on your agenda might be salads made with locally grown greens like romaine hearts with red pepper Caesar dressing and vine ripe tomatoes with house pulled mozzarella & hydroponic basil (and so much more!).
Now that the little stuff is out of the way you’ll want to get a little more serious. Visit the carving stations set with turkey two ways. One on the traditional side: Herb roasted organic Turkey and another more contemporary version: Truffled honey glazed turkey both served with a bevy of your holiday sides like sour dough apple bacon stuffing, garlic mashers, green beans, crunch onions, cranberry orange chutney, roasted Brussels & winter squashes and, of course, turkey gravy.
Elise and Amy are planning desserts that are especially tempting this year. With sweets like lemon profiteroles dipped in caramel, pears with almonds and mascarpone, pistachio crème brulee plus an array seasonal pies, boozy brownies and cookies you may find yourself visiting the desserts at the beginning of your brunch!
…And we haven’t forgotten the kids. Options for younger tastes will be available including their very own dessert table appropriately sized so kids won’t have to depend on taller patrons to help them select among M&M cookies, gingerbread men, whoopee pies and peanut butter blossoms.
Thanksgiving Brunch will be November 27th served 11am-7pm.
Adults $59 ~ Kids 12 & Under $27

The Cancer Center Council (CCC) will be looking for a little support from San Antonio shoppers. Biga on the Banks is proud to be one of the only RiverWalk restaurants in the mix.
The Partners Shopping Card is a great way give and get back at the same time. For a fifty dollar contribution to the CCC shoppers are given a 20% discount at hundreds of participating stores, cafes and salons October 17th-26th.
The much needed donation will benefit The Cancer Therapy & Research Center at The UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, a non profit corporation committed to conquer cancer through research, prevention and treatment. With so many businesses participating, you can turn your one time fifty dollar contribution to hundreds, even thousands of dollars in savings. The more you shop the more you save.
What to do with this new power of savings? The sensible shopper would probably get that holiday shopping out of the way. Those needing a little pampering may get a new ‘do after a luxurious day at the spa. Others will fill their homes with new furniture and find room in their closets for the latest fashions. Just remember, after a day of shopping, you won’t have to make dinner. There are lots of great restaurants included in this offer. In fact, one of your favorite RiverWalk restaurants, Biga on the Banks, is offering fine dining at a discounted rate for this important cause.
Visit http://cancercentercouncil.com/partners/ for a complete list of participating bussinesses and more information.
